Resource Services
Wade Hampton High School provides student support through resource services for students with learning disabilities, other health impairments, and orthopedic impairments. Two resource teachers serve 9th - 12th grade resource students through the resource model (individual/small group instruction) and the inclusion model (regular education classrooms).
Individual Instruction: Students receive instruction individually or in small groups to assist them in their general education coursework. Students may take tests, work on projects, or receive tutoring support in the resource classroom.
Inclusion: Resource teachers visit the general education classrooms to ensure that student assignments are completed and turned in on time. Through inclusion, teachers provide support for students in the regular education classroom.
The resource teachers' schedules are set up so that at all times either Ms.Shari Swofford or Ms. Ileana Voina will be delivering instruction and support to the students with special needs.
As resource teachers, we follow the Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) of each student to ensure that special services accommodations and modifications to the general education plan, including goals and objectives, are followed as stated. We communicate with the general education teachers through face-to-face meetings and various formats developed by the Special Education Department.
