The ESOL program is designd to teach English to those whose first languae is not English. English lessons are embedded into other content areas. ESOL works along with the regular education teachers to help teach English. A main goal is to help our students learn to speak and write English but most important successful graduation. Each spring our language students are assessed with the English Language Development Assessmen (ELDA) a state test very much like PASS and HSAP. The regular education teachers receive a copy of the ELDA so that they can target weak areas. Hampton One is successful in helping our students succeed.
-The ESOL students are studying American History with English embedded. They also have a homework session directly after ESOL class for help with homework.
