Fennell Elementary School

Welcome back to a new school year at Fennell Elementary. We are looking forward to a wonderful year working with your children. I am the Reading Interventionist and Master Teacher for Science and Math. I received my degree from University of South Caroina and masters from Walden University. I trained for Reading Recovery with Donna Lorenz and received my certificate from the National Reading Recovery Council. I have been teaching reading for the past seven years. I love working with the students to enhance their ability to become better readers and writers. I extend a welcome to you to visit anytime to see a lesson with your child. I am presently working with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. I assess them at the beginning to see what strategies they have under control. Then a group of five students are placed in the group. I assess them periodically to see if they can move out so I can serve other students.
I am also teaching 2nd and 3rd grade math students, who have been identified by the teacher for extra help.

Reading is the key to being successful. I would like for each child to read at least fifteen to twenty minutes a day before bedtime. The way to become a better reader is to read, read, read, and keep reading. Your child can travel the world through books.

I am here to support you in teaching your child. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity. I am looking forward to seeing you enter my classroom doors. You are Welcome!!!
