Dr. Rosenberg was born and raised in Statesboro, Georgia, and educated in Bulloch County public schools. He earned his undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech, his master’s degree from The Citadel, and his Doctorate in Education from South Carolina State University. He began his teaching career in Millen, Georgia, at Jenkins County High School as a science teacher. He served six years as assistant principal at Sumter High School and has served for the past six years as principal of Newberry High School, which received Double Palmetto Silver and Double Palmetto Gold awards.
Dr. Rosenberg’s wife, Barbara, has been an award-winning high school art teacher for thirty-three years. They have a daughter Tricia, and two granddaughters Maggie, a tenth grader, and Emma, a seventh grader.
The 2012-2013 school year marks Dr. Barry Rosenberg's second year as principal of Wade Hampton High School.
